The mission: Fill a sketchbook to be displayed in the Brooklyn Museum of Art with a chosen theme.
Theme chosen: Sleeplessness.
With the birth of my son right around the corner, I joined the BMoA's Sketchbook Project. I thought it would be a fun project, documenting the birth of my son.
Filling the book turned out to be a torturous task that I couldn't keep up with. I've never experienced a less creative period in my life. Within the first 4 days, my ideas were sucked away by the sleeplessness of have having a newborn in the house. Occasionally an idea would peak through the numbness one experiences during 3am feedings. My ideas felt as tired as my body.
Yet, I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.
Mission accomplished.
